Resurrection

Roots of Faith 28 Mar 2008 | : ARBA4, ROF Sunday Shul, Roots of Faith

In today’s class Ross takes a look at the Hebrew view of the afterlife – in particular, the idea of resurrection of the dead.

Maimonides in his articles of the Faith speaks of the resurrection:

“I firmly believe that there will take place a revival of the dead at which will please the Creator, blessed be His name.”

What is the Hebraic view? What word is used to define resurrection?

You will want to listen to this class, delivered from the historic Temple Sinai – the synagogue without walls.

Formal creeds and one of Orthodox Christianity’s fundamental beliefs is that Isaiah 7:14 predicts that a young Jewish virgin would conceive and bring forth a son. Is this what Isaiah meant when this text was originally written?

Ross covers some of the historical setting for this text. When was it written? What does the Hebrew term Almah mean?

Was Miriam, a young Jewish girl to become the Mother of God?

Learn this and more in this week’s class.

Roots of Faith 14 Mar 2008 | : ARBA4, ROF Sunday Shul, Roots of Faith

This week, Ross continues the series on the Son of God. In this week’s lesson, he begins to lay the groundwork to explore the “virgin birth”.

The lesson first addresses the role of Yeshua from his own words, from the words of his earliest followers and then goes into some of the more difficult sayings of Yeshua such as, “the father and I are one”. What does this mean?

Ross seeks to show that the language is clear if one starts from a Hebraic view.

He talks about the “God of Yeshua”.

He finishes his teaching with an assignment. He requests that everyone read Isaiah 7 and 8 before next week’s class.
