In this week’s class, Ross picks up where he left off last week. He focuses again on the geography of the redemption – a map of salvation – if you will.

He reads from several passages in the Hebrew Bible that look on the wilderness experience in a nostalgic way (see for instance Hosea 2:14-15, Isaiah 41:17-20, Isaiah 43:18-21)

The DSS community was not only seeking to “prepare the way” in the wilderness, they became known as the “people of the way”. This was also the name for the first followers of Yochanon and Yeshua (Acts 9:1-2, 19:8-10, 19:23, 22:3-5, 24:10-16, 24:22-23).

In this week’s class, Ross also covers the timing of these events and proposes that the time was right for the redemption when Yochanon stepped on the scene.

Ross explores the idea that the “messenger” sought to reform the priest (see Malachi 1:6-2:9).

Ross covers the gospel through the wilderness experience of Yeshua.

He also informs his audience of some points of interest regarding the ancient practice of Baptism. He reads from the Mishna and then talks of the modern view of baptism as practiced in most protestant churches.

This lecture ends with a closer look at Deuteronomy 18:15-18, Deuteronomy 34:10-12 and how they may connect with Matthew 11:11-15.
