Roots of Faith 29 Aug 2008 | : ARBA4, ROF Sunday Shul, Roots of Faith
In this week’s lesson, Ross covers the subject of “right observance” of the Torah. He begins the class by referring to a quote from the apocryphal work, Sirach. In this passage we are told that those who seek the Torah will be filled with it, but that hypocrites will stumble at it. He then builds on this and teaches from Matthew chapters 15 and 23.
You will not want to miss this class. Ross also covers the subject that was the basis for his article, “The Seat of Moses.”

Roots of Faith 22 Aug 2008 | : ARBA4, ROF Sunday Shul, Roots of Faith
In this week’s class Ross takes a closer look at the Shema. He begins the lesson by weaving current events (Faith and Politics) with early American history. He reads a letter that was written by a “famous politician” to an Hebrew congregation on August 17, 1790.
In that letter, this politician quotes from the Hebrew Prophet Micah. It is this text that Ross uses to launch into his class. There in Micah we read that all the people will “walk in the name of their God”, but “we” will walk in the name of YHWH our God.
What will happen that brings people from this to the picture we find in Zechariah 14? This is the subject of this class.
Ross takes a closer look at the Shema and then closes out with the Bible’s most oft repeated formula. Variations of this description of the character of God are found in the following texts:
Exodus 34:6-7
Numbers 14:18-19
Jonah 4:2
Joel 2:13
Micah 7:18
Psalm 86:15; 103:8; 145:8
2 Chronicles 30:9
Nehemiah 9:17, 31
Shalom from the synagogue without walls!

Program #33 – Yeshua and Torah Observance part4
We left the previous discussion in a cliff hanger. We solve the “cliff-hanger” by using the Hebrew and Greek translations of the text to reveal the idea of what the English word “fulfilled” means.
I present my literal translation of this passage as a means for clarifying the dilemma of the double use of the English word “fulfilled.”
