Sabbath of Assembly

Roots of Faith 27 Feb 2011 | : ROF Shabbat Services, Roots of Faith, Syndicated

In this week’s class, Ross teaches on Torah reading Va-Yakhel. This Torah reading focuses on the heart of the people who were doing in work in the wilderness. This work of building a mikdash (a holy place) required all who had a willing heart to bring to the work an offering. Ross shows that what the people actually brought was their willingness. He also shows the “roots of the Spirit” from this week’s parsha. You will not want to miss this class. Will you be a part of what God is doing today? Do you possess a willing heart?

Ki Tissa – Sin and Atonement

Roots of Faith 19 Feb 2011 | : ROF Shabbat Services, Roots of Faith, Syndicated

In this week’s class, Ross covers a biblical view of sin and atonement by carefully working through the story of the “golden calf”. He claims that this Torah reading gives us insight into God’s very nature and characteristics, shows us a side of Moses that many miss and helps us understand how God deals with our sins. You will not want to miss this class. The final few minutes of the class did not come through in our recording of the audio, but we will try and recover the conclusion of the class and post at a later time. You can view the entire class on line at www.shma.tv in the meantime.

Tetzaveh – The Messiah

Roots of Faith 12 Feb 2011 | : ROF Shabbat Services, Roots of Faith, Syndicated

In this week’s class Ross uses points from Torah Reading Tetzaveh to explain the Biblical idea of “the Messiah”. Ross proposes that this subject is one of the most misunderstood concepts in Biblical faith. What does the Bible have to say about this figure called by Jews and Christians – the Messiah. You will not want to miss this class. The dialogue is also posted from this class.

The “Sower Sows the Word” of The Kingdom – the Besurah – the Gospel. This, in ’seed form’ is outlined as the “First Principles” of the Oracles of God. This ’seed’ brings initial enlightenment and a tasting of the heavenly gift of salvation. And, this leads to a desire to be “partakers of the holy spirit” – holy inspiration. This is sometimes imparted by means of the “laying on of hands”. Through this, a variety of gifts and endowments are received in order to serve God and His people.

Terumah – Make me a Mikdash

Roots of Faith 05 Feb 2011 | : ROF Shabbat Services, Roots of Faith, Syndicated

In this week’s class Ross begins to teach on the subject of the Tabernacle. Beginning with Exodus 25:8 Ross shares his understanding of the true purpose of the Mishkan. “And they shall make me a mikdash and I will dwell in their midst”. What is a mikdash and what does God mean when He says he will dwell in the midst of His people? Will God indeed dwell on the earth? What was the purpose of the Tabernacle? The Torah has more on the subject of the Tabernacle than any other subject. Does this suggest that the subject is of vital importance for us today? Ross talks about the pattern, mentioned 4 times in the reading today. Why was all to be made according to the pattern? And what does the pattern point towards? You will not want to miss this class. I also loaded the dialogue session again this week.
