In this 4th class of the Messiah series, Ross explores further the subject of the son of David.
Yeshua asked a question of his opponents concerning the lineage of the “Messiah”. Was this not a known fact? Is it not clear that the “Messiah” will be born from the lineage of David? What does the priestly order of MelchiTzedek have to do with the Messiah?
Ross covers the promises to David and reads Psalm 89. This psalm begins with a review of the promises to David and then seems to suggest that the promises have been forgotten. Where is this promised kingdom the psalmist asks?
Can one that is descended from David serve at the altar? Ross covers some passages that seem to suggest that only the priests can serve at the altar. This is also covered in the New Testament book of Hebrews. But is this true?
These and other questions are raised in this class. You will not want to miss this class.

In this class Ross explores the idea of the King as it relates to the Messiah. In this class, Ross looks at the origin of the monarchy in ancient Israel. Was it the will of God to have a monarchy? Most students of Scripture anticipate a coming King of the line of David who will reign. How did Yeshua respond when he was asked if he was a king?
Ross also looks at an ancient sect of Jewish “Christians” known as the Ebionites. Do they have some insights that we need to recover as we search for truth?
Here are some of the texts that Ross uses in his study of the Kingdom;
1 Samuel 8
1 Samuel 10:17-25
1 Samuel 12:12-25
Deuteronomy 17:14ff
Is there to be a Kingdom? Yes, but is it what we have in our mind? See the text in Exodus 19:5-6. See also Zechariah 14:9.

In this class, Ross explores all the passages from the Torah related to the Hebrew idea of “Anointing”. Ross shows that objects and Priests are the “Anointed Ones” mentioned in the Torah.
Beginning in John 1:35-51, Yeshua makes one of the three references to his role in the Torah. What is it that he refers to? And what is the significance to this claim.
Ross answers this question and uses it to set the stage for a full class of every instance of the word “anointed” in the Torah.
You will not want to miss this class. It is foundational for an understanding of this Hebrew concept.

In this week’s lesson, Ross begins his series on “The Messiah - Expectations and Speculations”. Ross seeks to recover a biblical and Hebraic view of the Messiah.
The goal and objective of this series is to show:
The orgin of the term and examples of the ancient practice of anointing (i.e., Priest, King and Prophet). We will cover other titles used for various messianic figures, and fully explore these in context. One of the things that we will do over the next few weeks, is begin to see the complexity of this subject.
Will there be one messiah or two? What can we learn from the DSS, Jewish literature, etc? Who else was called messiah?
What about the messianic claims of Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth)?

In today’s class Ross takes a look at the Hebrew view of the afterlife - in particular, the idea of resurrection of the dead.
Maimonides in his articles of the Faith speaks of the resurrection:
“I firmly believe that there will take place a revival of the dead at which will please the Creator, blessed be His name.”
What is the Hebraic view? What word is used to define resurrection?
You will want to listen to this class, delivered from the historic Temple Sinai - the synagogue without walls.

In this class, Ross further explores the idea of the son of God. In this class, Ross begins to look at the use of certain texts from the Hebrew Bible by the evangelists. This week, he looks at the historical context of Isaiah 7 and 8.
Formal creeds and one of Orthodox Christianity’s fundamental beliefs is that Isaiah 7:14 predicts that a young Jewish virgin would conceive and bring forth a son. Is this what Isaiah meant when this text was originally written?
Ross covers some of the historical setting for this text. When was it written? What does the Hebrew term Almah mean?
Was Miriam, a young Jewish girl to become the Mother of God?
Learn this and more in this week’s class.

This week, Ross continues the series on the Son of God. In this week’s lesson, he begins to lay the groundwork to explore the “virgin birth”.
The lesson first addresses the role of Yeshua from his own words, from the words of his earliest followers and then goes into some of the more difficult sayings of Yeshua such as, “the father and I are one”. What does this mean?
Ross seeks to show that the language is clear if one starts from a Hebraic view.
He talks about the “God of Yeshua”.
He finishes his teaching with an assignment. He requests that everyone read Isaiah 7 and 8 before next week’s class.

In this week’s lesson, Ross further explores the idea of God’s son. In last week’s class he taught on the Hebraic view of God’s son.
The class begins with a look at the popular understanding of the term. The common understanding of Son of God associates Jesus of Nazareth with God as part of a triune Godhead.
What can we know from history when it comes to the “Trinity”? Does the bible teach that God is represented in three “persons” - Father, Son and Holy Ghost”?
When do we first find this concept? Did Jesus teach this? Should you believe in the trinity?
You will be challenged by part 2 of this subject. Next week we will continue to look at this subject in the Son of God - Part 3.
