When Pharaoh Speaks

Posted by Torah Focus on 02 May 2013 | Tagged as: Midrashim, Syndicated, Thursday Night Live, Torah Focus

This Torah Focus looks at Mordechai (Mark) Chapter 5 :35-43 where after healing the woman with the “issue of blood” Yeshua goes to the house of the Rosh HaKeneset and heals the young girl and cites the phrase “Talita Cumi”

What does this phrase mean and what difficulties does Yeshua face in this scenario?

Fascinating and insightful class.

Adam and Chava why did they cover themselves and why with fig leaves? Is someone sinful because they become ritually impure? Fire and water, how do these two elements  effect purification? These questions and many more were answered in Torah Focus class.

Shabbat Zachor 5773

Posted by Torah Focus on 08 Mar 2013 | Tagged as: Midrashim, Syndicated, Thursday Night Live, Torah Focus

Shabbat Zachor 5773 D’varim (Deut.) 24:19 – 25:19; Ashlamatah: I Samuel 15:1-34; Psalm 2:1-12;

N.C.: Rev. 13:11 – 14:12; 15:2-4

We opened class with talking about points from the study that fired our imagination. These are some of the things we talked about in class.

Boaz was 80 years old and Ruth 40 when they married. They had only one night together before he died and yet they produced the lineage of King David and Yeshua. The lineage of Yeshua was from a Moabitess converting to Judaism and a Judge of Israel. The marriage to Boaz earned Ruth the respect and notoriety she needed in the culture after Boaz died.

We then began to discuss the depth of So’od and how to interpret So’od. We opened to the Revelation of Messiah (the book of Revelation) and began to explicate the mystery of this “Revelation.” We compared the reception of the “Revelation” to Har Sinai showing the chain of transmission.

So’od—Symbolic—kibal

  • Revelation- Revelation
  • By G-D – Sanai
  • Yeshua – Moshe

We learned a great deal about how to interpret So’od and how to delve deeper into the book of Revelation by understanding So’od hermeneutics.

We asked and answered the question “How many demons were inside the demoniac.” We then looked at the Remes part of our Nazarean Readings to see how it tells us where we are on the Biblical Calendar. Following the signal of the Nazarean Codicl we looked at the Torah Portion which speaks of the burning bush. What was the message of the Burning Bush? Come and See!

However, in the class we deal with these things in from a much more in-depth look.

Who or what are these three groups of angels?

We delve into the subject revealing things about guardian angels and more.

And He Sent Yehudah

Posted by Torah Focus on 12 Jan 2013 | Tagged as: Midrashim, Syndicated, Thursday Night Live, Torah Focus

And He sent Yehudah (B’resheet 46:28-47:28

B’Midbar 28:9-15, Zech 10:6-12 + 11:4-11, 1 Sam 20:18,42, Psa 38:1-23

Nazarean Codicil (New Testament) mk 4:21-25, Lk 11:35-36, 8:16-18; Acts 10:34-43

In this special Torah Focus we again were able to tap into the wisdom of His Eminence Hakham Rabbi Dr Yosef ban Haggai.

We began our class with our usual discussion looking at the points of interest in the Torah Seder. We then began to look at how the Torah Seder revolved around the opening words of our Torah Seder ” And He Sent Yehudah.” The great question was, he sent Yehudah to do what?  We learned that Yehudah went to build a Bet Midrash (House of Study) for Ya’aqob and his Jewish family in Egypt. We then began to look at how this was a prototypical practice for Jews in Diaspora. We looked at the Nazarean Codicil and saw Hakham Tsefet (Peter) doing the very same thing that Yehudah was doing. This opened up a discussion on Jews and gentiles in Diaspora. As usual this was a very informative class.

And You are Commanded

Posted by Torah Focus on 06 Jan 2013 | Tagged as: Midrashim, Syndicated, Thursday Night Live, Torah Focus

And You Are Commanded (B’resheet 45:19-46:27)

Ashlamatah: Amos 2:13 +3:1-8

Nazarean Codicil readings: Mk. 4:13-20; Lk. 8:11-15; Acts 10:17-33

In this Torah Focus we discussed the refrain “Immediately” which was repeated in the Nazarean Codicil three times. His Eminence Hakham Rabbi Dr Yosef ben Haggai elaborated on why the word was repeated in the Nazarean Codicil and how this related to the cited Torah Seder. He further elucidated that the refrain exemplified the Jewish people and the phrase “Na’aseh V’nishmah.”

We entertained various questions from our internet audience concerning Hakham Shaul – Paul and the “Law” and “works of the Law.” The answers give some fresh insight into interpreting Hakham Shaul/Paul from a Jewish perspective.

Triennial Torah Reading “Ani Yosef”

In this class we looked at the Triennial Torah portion where Yosef reveals himself to his brothers.  Our special guest His Eminence Hakham Rabbi Dr Yosef Ben Haggai shared with us his most wonderful insights into this Torah Portion and demonstrated some special insights into the Nazarene Codicil’s portion of Acts where the sheet (Talit) was lowered before Hakham Tsefet. We concluded with some thoughts on the connection between the Marqan  – Peshat text and the Torah.
